I’ve been described as opinionated and outspoken, but my real obsession is making property simple – cutting through the jargon and explaining simply and strikingly the big issues in housing and why they matter to renters, investors, buyers and sellers alike.
Housing is as fundamental an issue as it gets. It’s one of the few things that unites every single one of us – everyone needs somewhere to live, regardless of their background or bank balance.
That’s why it’s so import housing has a prominent place on the media agenda, and even more important that we speak clearly, compellingly and honestly about the big issues facing our industry.
My weekly blog has tens of thousands of subscribers, and I recently launched Housing NOW, a monthly bulletin of up-to-the-minute information on the property market in the North East on a street-by-street level.
I’m particularly passionate about improving the image of our industry. And that means being prepared to stand up and explain the big issues and the day-to-day realties of housing in the UK – whether that means putting our fists up, or holding our hands up.
It also means making sure the property industry is public-facing, accountable and an accessible part of the wider economy and community. That’s why I’m committed to ethical lettings, as well as acting as a director of local charity Pinetree, who work with ex-offenders and the disadvantaged to help them start their own businesses.
I also sit on the North East Shadow Monetary Policy Committee, offering advice to government on economic affairs. I’ve also recently been asked to offer advice to the Bank of England.
I’ve featured in: The Guardian, The Financial Times, Sky News, BBC News, Property Ladder, BBC Radio Five Live, LBC, Heart, The Independent, BBC World News, Channel 4 News, The Politics Show, Letting Agent Today, BQ, Residential News, The Journal, BBC Radio Newcastle, Sun Fm, Spark Fm, bDaily, Landlord Today, The Sunderland Echo, The Whitely Bay News Guardian, 24dash, The Shields Gazette, The Northern Echo, The Welwyn and Hatfield Times, Landlord Zone and many many more.
I’m always available to comment on the sales and lettings issues of the day – just get in touch.
